Size: 30" x 17" x 30"

Material: reclaimed fir, black walnut and leather

Description

Inspired by the form of a traditional Queen Anne piece, Pernt's Lowboy marries a modern aesthetic with traditional woodworking techniques.  The reclaimed old growth fir is harvested from dumpsters at renovation sites in Brooklyn--lumber of this age cannot be obtained readily from other sources.  Contrasting with the amber exterior are black walnut drawers joined with hand cut dovetails.  Supple hot-waxed leather drawer pulls invite one's hand to the piece.  Butterfly keys, patches, and epoxy-filled voids map the history of the lumber that once was slated for the landfill, but now is given new life as an heirloom piece of furniture.

About Pernt
Wood working has been a passed down through the generations in Christopher's family. Christopher now has tools from his great grandfather who lived and worked in Pittsburgh. Christopher's own style reflects back on time and history but takes a modern approach to design. The result- furniture that was built to last and ripens with age, yet remains stylish over time.

Christopher is currently working on building a chair out of dismantled whisky barrel. We're currently drinking whisky.

Heirloom quality on traditionally modern furniture, we can assure you that Christopher's pieces will one day too become heirlooms.
